Precision Sensing in the Field

Equipped with an Open-Path Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (OP-TDLAS) sensor, MetScan V1 detects methane concentrations up to 99,999 ppm·m with ≤10% error in typical operating ranges. Sampling at 50 Hz, the system captures rapid changes in gas levels, making it ideal for belt-type scanning along pipelines, well pads, or complex urban sites. Its detection range reaches up to 160 meters in daylight and up to 400 meters at night, allowing operators to maintain a safe distance from potential hazards.

Integrated Imaging and Georeferencing

The MetScan V1 methane sensor comes with a three-axis stabilized gimbal and a dual-camera setup a wide-angle 35 mm equivalent for broad-area coverage and a 300 mm telephoto for detailed inspection. 

 

Together with an integrated laser rangefinder, the system georeferences each measurement, providing latitude, longitude, and relative altitude for every detected plume. This combination ensures that leaks are not just detected, but precisely located and documented.

Optimized Workflow for Field Teams

SSI enables closed-loop analysis, linking spatial data, time-series measurements, and high-resolution imagery. With one-click navigation to leak points, UAV operators can inspect, document, and log findings in a fraction of the time it would take with traditional methods. Real-Time Data, Actionable Insights

All the raw data collected by MetScan V1 feeds into Soarability Spatiotemporal Insights (SSI), a browser-based platform for real-time monitoring and post-flight analysis. SSI visualizes methane plumes in 2D and 3D, including point clouds, heatmaps, and interpolated projections.

 

Operators can see plume size, concentration, and dispersion instantly. SSI also supports real-time streaming via MQTT, integrating seamlessly with SCADA systems, cloud dashboards, or command centers. This means decisions about repairs or shutdowns can be made while the UAV is still in the air.

Versatile Applications

MetScan V1 adapts to a wide range of operational environments. On natural gas well sites, it identifies leaks at valves and flanges with centimeter-level accuracy. Along pipelines, it provides dense, high-frequency concentration data for rapid assessment. In urban settings, it detects leaks both inside and outside high-rise buildings, eliminating the need for risky on-site inspections.

Lightweight, UAV-Ready Design

Weighing approximately 890 grams including the gimbal, MetScan V1 is compact and easily deployed on UAV platforms like the DJI M400, M350, and M300.
